Tri-Mer’s Ian and Marco Mercieca Join as Partners

We are pleased to announce that ht.digital, the digital assets division of BKR London member firm Harris & Trotter LLP, has launched its European presence with the creation of HT Digital Europe Ltd, headquartered in Malta.

The new office will be led by Ian and Marco Mercieca, Managing Partners of Tri-Mer Services in Malta – a long-standing member of BKR International. In addition to their continuing leadership at Tri-Mer, Ian and Marco are joining the ht.digital partnership.

This move positions ht.digital at the heart of the EU’s growing regulatory and commercial landscape for digital assets. With Malta rapidly establishing itself as a jurisdiction of choice for crypto firms under the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) framework, HT Digital Europe is ideally placed to support clients with pan-European compliance, advisory, and audit services — including the ability to sign audits in Malta.

Ian Mercieca commented:

“We are delighted to be joining ht.digital as partners and helping to establish its presence in Malta. As the digital asset space continues to evolve – particularly under MiCA – we see significant opportunity to support clients looking for trusted, expert guidance in this fast-moving area. This is a natural next step for us and we look forward to building something valuable together.”

Marco Mercieca added:

“At Tri-Mer, we have always believed in combining trust with progress. Now, together with ht.digital, we are taking that belief to the next level by bringing local insight and global scale to support clients across the EU.”

Founded in 2023 as a carve-out from Harris & Trotter, ht.digital has grown rapidly to become a market leader in the digital asset space. The firm’s expansion into Malta reflects both the evolving needs of its clients and the strength of long-standing collaborations across the BKR International association.

Nicholas Newman, CEO of ht.digital, said:

“Malta’s forward-looking approach to crypto regulation made it a natural choice. Ian and Marco bring deep regional experience and an entrepreneurial mindset that align perfectly with our values.”

This development is a powerful example of how BKR member firms collaborate to drive innovation, respond to regulatory shifts, and support clients in high-growth sectors across borders.
