Two BKR International firms, Alas Oplas & Co. and Johanson and Yau Accountancy Corporation, recently came together for a week of intensive hands-on tax training in Makati, Philippines, demonstrating the value of practical business-led collaboration across the association.
Hosted by Alas Oplas & Co, the programme brought together the firm’s SJ Tax Team with colleagues from Johanson and Yau for a focused week of technical knowledge sharing and skills development.
The sessions were led by Johanson & Yau’s Managing Partner, Laura Lin, and Tax Manager Cindy Cheng, delivering in-depth training combining practical exercises with applied tax insights drawn from real client scenarios.
Beyond the technical content, the week provided valuable opportunities for teams to work side by side, exchange perspectives, and build stronger professional relationships. Informal discussions and shared experiences throughout the programme helped deepen trust and understanding between the firms, laying the groundwork for ongoing collaboration.
This initiative highlights how BKR member firms are using the association as a platform for meaningful, firm-led collaboration. By investing time in shared learning, technical development, and people-to-people connections, member firms strengthen their ability to support clients operating across borders in an increasingly complex global environment.
This collaboration is a strong example of how BKR International facilitates practical, firm-led engagement that delivers tangible value to members worldwide.
