On Friday, December 7, Nisivoccia LLP employees who wore jeans to work donated money to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center. This month’s charity was selected as a tribute to Joe Mercurio, an employee who worked at Nisivoccia LLP for 50 years and passed away in 2016. Our firm decided to make St. Hubert’s the annual beneficiary of Jeans Day donations in December as a lasting tribute to Joe, as he was fond of this shelter. St. Hubert’s mission is dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. The organization believes in providing services that support the human-animal bond and seeks to foster an environment in which people respect all living creatures.
On Thursday, December 6, Nick Sarinelli, CPA, Partner, was honored at the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of New Jersey’s (METRO) Holiday Party & Installation of 2019 Officers. Nick was named METRO’s 2018 Associate of the Year. Nick has enjoyed being a member of METRO for five years and is an active writer for their online magazine, OnSite.

On Thursday, November 29, Nisivoccia LLP hosted our annual Not-for-Profit Seminar at Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph. The program included presentations and speakers such as “Reinventing New Jersey: Economic, Demographic and Technological Change” by James W. Hughes, Ph. D. of Rutgers University, “Retirement Plans, Donor-Advised Funds and More” by Damien Paumi, Wealth Management Advisor of Nisivoccia Wealth Advisors LLC, “An Overview of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017” by Harlene Stevens, CPA, of Nisivoccia LLP, and “Marketing with a Purpose: How to Attract New Donors” by Rochelle Moneta of LeRoe Promotional Marketing and Amanda Sexton of FocusWorks Marketing. The program was then wrapped up with a “Share the Knowledge” Leadership Panel including Allie Ries, Board Chair of New Jersey Community Capital Funding, Richard Lecher, President and CEO of SCARC, Blair Schleicher Bravo, CEO of Morris Habitat for Humanity and David Walker, Esq., CEO and Executive Director of Visions and Pathways.
On Wednesday, December 5, Bud Jones, CPA, Partner, and Valerie Dolan, CPA, Partner, hosted the second annual Nisivoccia LLP Newly Elected Officials Seminar and Dinner at La Strada Ristorante in Randolph. Bud and Valerie discussed what newly elected officials should know about budgeting and financial planning for their towns.
On Wednesday, December 12, the women of Nisivoccia LLP hosted the biannual Connecting Women2Women Networking Cocktail Reception at TOWN Bar + Kitchen in Morristown. The goal of the event is to have an enjoyable evening of hors d’oeuvres and drinks as we bring together women from the area to foster communications, establish relationships and create opportunities.
On Friday, December 14, Bud Jones, CPA, Partner, hosted a Certified Municipal Finance Officer Roundtable at The Knoll Country Club. The Roundtable is a quarterly event that provides the opportunity to meet with other finance officers and budget preparers in a small forum to share ideas and gain valuable knowledge on a variety of topics. December’s program included topics and speakers such as purchasing/procurement update by Sean Canning, QPA, of The Canning Group, changes in investing for municipalities by Yitz Weiss of Passaic Valley Water Commission and a FAST update and electronic payments update by Bud Jones of Nisivoccia LLP and Jon Rheinhardt of Wharton Borough.
