Denim Days

On Monday, February 19, Nisivoccia LLP employees who wore jeans to work donated money to our not-for-profit client, the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains. The Interfaith Food Pantry is a non-denominational, nonprofit organization helping families make ends meet by supplementing their monthly groceries in times of need.

Bob Charlton, CPA, Partner, was featured in the article “Here comes tax season. Need help?” published by the Township Journal. In the article, Bob provides tax advice such as starting your tax process earlier so they can be filed in the most effective way, and to take a look at your 2016 return before filing 2017’s. Nick Sarinelli, CPA, Partner, wrote the article “Significant Change to Tax Laws” which was published in the February 2018 Metro OnSite Magazine. In the article, Nick highlights the important elements of the new law that have the most impact on individuals. The full article can be found here.

Deirdre Hartmann, CPA, Partner, and Laura Lampron, Director of Marketing, were featured in the article “Supercharge your firm’s recruiting efforts” published by Accounting Today. Deidre spoke about how having a business coach has helped her grow both professionally and personally and lead her to develop more leadership skills. Laura talked about why she decided to launch the coaching program at Nisivoccia LLP, stating that it would be important in creating the firm’s future leaders and partners. In the Community

On Wednesday, February 7, Deirdre Hartmann, CPA, Partner, spoke about the Tax Cut & Jobs Act at Big Apple Visual Group in New York City. Deirdre presented “The Tax Cut & Jobs Act of 2017: How it will impact you both in business and personally.” The presentation covered highlights of the key provisions of the TCJA, how to understand how the new provisions will impact businesses and individuals and tax planning ideas for 2018 and beyond.

Kathi Mantell, CPA, Partner, and Man Lee, CPA, Principal, presented to the Essex County ASBO on Wednesday, February 14, and to the Passaic County ASBO on Wednesday, February 21. The presentation given to both groups of school administrators and professionals revolved several new aspects to the audit this year, including testing of additional reported enrollments, reporting post-retirement benefits and new procurement standards for federal grants. There was a great turnout at both events.

On Wednesday, February 28, Steve Van Houten, Director of Human Resources, and Caitlin Jannucci, CPA, attended the Seton Hall 2018 Spring Career Fair. Both Steve and Caitlin enjoyed an afternoon of speaking with students interested in pursuing a career in accounting.

Employee Engagement

On Thursdsay, February 22, about 25 Nisivoccia LLP employees attended the NJ Devils vs. Minnesota Wild hockey game. While it was a disappointing loss for the Devils, Nisivoccia employees enjoyed watching the game together and hanging out outside of the office.
