In Memoriam: Leonard S. Viggiano (Long Island)

Leonard S. Viggiano: July 2, 1936 – August 28, 2019

It is with a heavy heart that Albrecht, Viggiano, Zureck & Co., P.C. (Long Island) must say a final goodbye to one of its founding Partners, Leonard "Len" S. Viggiano. If you had the pleasure of knowing and working with Len, you were always very aware of the tremendous amount of respect his clients, business associates and friends had for him. He was very generous in guiding the younger professionals at AVZ toward working to the best of their abilities and becoming the best CPA's they could possibly be. While Len was a man of very few words, it is also true that when he spoke everyone listened. Len was a leader in the truest sense of the word and even though his expectations were high, it is in large part because of his efforts that AVZ flourished and grew.

AVZ was founded in 1950 by Sebastian Albrecht, and it wasn't until Len and John Zureck came to the firm that it became Albrecht, Viggiano, Zureck & Co., P.C. Len joined the firm in 1964 and in 1967, after only three short years, he was admitted as a Partner. Len was always active in the communities where he worked and lived. He was, up until not long ago, the Treasurer of ACIT. He was previously a Director with the Huntington Red Cross, a Boy Scout leader in Dix Hills and served in various capacities for the Nassau and Suffolk Chapters of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He was also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Len would often still stop by to chat and visit, and everyone always enjoyed spending time catching up with him. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean. A loving and caring father to Jeffrey (Dawn), Christopher (Nancy) and Lisa Costa. He was also adored by his grandchildren, Joseph, Katherine, Andrew, Matthew and Michelle. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

Len's legacy of success is forever woven into the tapestry of AVZ's history. Len will be greatly missed and always remembered by so many, but especially his AVZ family.
